This initiative will support the vulnerable population that are babies, girls, women and women of color specifically. We will target implementation of medical policies, prenatally, postnatally, birth, neonatal intensive care, address complications, pain, screenings, examinations, hormones, surgical procedures & postpartum.
The reason that this population is identified as vulnerable is that according to Harvard University 70 % of pain is experienced by women and 80% of research studies are conducted only on male mice and humans. Women are much more likely statistically to be dismissed, ignored and not prescribed pain medication. Women of color are 4x as likely to experience preventable fatalities during childbirth, compared to caucasian women. Women are also lead to believe that hormonal related health issues are normal, they are common, but not normal.
